HER Power

Project Description

We are HER Power—a women’s empowerment group developed by three community advocates who saw an immediate need for resources that promote holistic well being across NYCHA developments. We hope by engaging in these practices together that women can move towards individual and community healing, while also becoming empowered as leaders.

Jamilla Daise

Bio

I am a professional Clinical Counselor who helps women in therapeutic residential settings. In community, I am a Public Advocate and Residential Champion for Marcy Houses and the Outreach Coordinator for HER Power. My drive for the HER Power project stems from my personal experience with trauma and violence as a child growing up in the foster care system. Through HER Power, I will help my community heal from past and present obstacles by facilitating Empowerment focused workshops.  I am a survivor that understands the importance of embedding holistic practices in community so that we can have a better future.
