When we fight together, we can win.
Community leadership is at the center of our work. Our partnership model upends the traditional power dynamics of service providers and community groups: we build relationships, listen to our partners and find creative ways to support grassroots efforts with legal, policy and research tools.
We believe that community organizing should be at the center of any effort to create sustainable, systemic change. TakeRoot Justice has a long history of partnering with grassroots and community-based organizations that build leadership and power within New York City’s low-income communities, particularly communities of color, immigrant communities and others who are traditionally excluded from policy-making.
When we fight for improvements in people’s everyday lives, we build capacity and power to win long-term systemic victories in the fight for racial and social equity.
Together, we can change the policies, laws and systems that affect our communities.
