Our Partnership Model
We believe that community organizing should be at the center of any effort to create sustainable, systemic change. TakeRoot Justice has a long history of partnering with grassroots and community-based organizations that build leadership and power within New York City’s low-income communities, particularly communities of color, immigrant communities and others who are traditionally excluded from policy-making.
Pro Bono
We can’t do it alone! Our pro bono partners have helped win millions in back pay for workers, keep immigrant families together and save countless tenants from eviction. We are always eager to work with people and firms interested in pro bono opportunities.
Volunteer lawyers work independently or in collaboration with TakeRoot Justice attorneys to assist grassroots organizations and their constituents on issue areas such as:
- Tenants’ rights
Workers’ rights
Immigrants’ rights
Consumer rights
Business/transactional matters for organizations and small businesses
If you are interested in any of these areas, please contact our Pro Bono Coordinators.
