Technical Assistance for Organizers

Project Description

The Technical Assistance for Organizers project aims to increase organizing and communications capacity for three public housing developments. During COVID-19, resident leaders have struggled to engage their residents. My project will aim to work with three resident advisory boards to host online events, outreach, and community assessments to determine the needs of residents during these trying times.

Bio

I am an advocate, strategist and community organizer. I was introduced to organizing at the age of seventeen when I ran for Resident Association President of the public housing development where I grew up. Since then I have worked as an organizer with Good Old Lower East Side, Inc. (GOLES), as a senior community organizer at the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, and as the Director of Organizing at WE ACT. I currently lead the Residents to Preserve Public (RPPH) group, a growing coalition of public housing resident leaders working to build a citywide campaign to preserve public housing. I received my Bachelors degree from Touro College where I double majored in Education and Psychology.
