Irene is the proud daughter of immigrants from El Salvador and is a macro-focused social worker. Irene previously worked as a campaign researcher for labor unions IATSE and SEIU in New York and Los Angeles. She holds a bachelor’s degree from San Francisco State University and a Master of Social Work from the School of Social Work at Hunter College, where she focused on community organizing and social welfare policy.
