Ocean Anuru, LMSW, MPH is a distinguished management consultant, social work manager, public health educator, youth development specialist, and project manager. She works with Takeroot Justice as the LEAP Coalition Coordinator, supporting the advocacy work of its 17 organizations. She is currently in doctoral school to become an Organizational Psychologist alongside her work with TRJ. Hailing from The ‘Boogie Down’ Bronx, Ocean identifies as a queer Hood Black woman and she passionately champions the lives and potential of Hood Black youth and the liberation of the Hood community with her personal business, Dream Keep Consulting.
Ocean is currently pursuing a PhD in Business Psychology with The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. She holds a Master of Social Work (MSW) in Management of Human Services with a focus on Children & Youth, along with a Child Welfare Certificate from The University of Michigan-Ann Arbor’s School of Social Work. Her Master of Public Health (MPH) in Health Behavior and Health Education is also from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. Ocean earned her Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Psychology & Educational Studies with a minor in Biology from Swarthmore College.
