We work directly with residents at Wyckoff Gardens, LaGuardia Houses, and Cooper Park Houses – three of the four sites where NYCHA and NYC Housing Preservation and Development have publicized an intention to allow private developers to construct half-market rate and half below-market housing to meet Mayor de Blasio’s housing development goals. We testified to the City Council Committee about irregularities in the approval processes for infill development, obfuscation that limits resident participation and the lack of environmental review that is on course to allow construction with impacts on current NYCHA residents to move ahead. You can watch the hearing here. Karen Leader from Cooper Park Resident Council (CDP’s clients) is at minute 18; Paula Segal’s testimony on behalf of CDP is at 4 hours 50 minutes.
