Henna (they/them) is a Senior Staff Attorney with the Immigrants’ Rights Team. Prior to joining TakeRoot Justice, Henna worked to advance migrant workers’ rights as a Justice Catalyst Fellow with Centro de los Derechos del Migrante in Mexico City. Before that, Henna represented detained immigrants facing deportation at Brooklyn Defender Services. Henna received their JD from Berkeley Law and BA from UC Berkeley. While pursuing their JD, Henna worked with the New York Civil Liberties Union, East Bay Community Law Center, Palestine Legal, and Alameda County Public Defender. When not working, Henna co-builds community projects that center on abolitionist praxis and transformative justice.
