Nadia (she/her) is the queer daughter of Pakistani immigrants and the Supervising Attorney of the Immigrant Rights Team. Before joining TakeRoot Justice, Nadia spent ten years working as an attorney at the Peter Cicchino Youth Project of the Urban Justice Center, where she provided a wide range of legal services and community education to homeless youth and specialized in working with LGBTQ young people experiencing poverty and criminalization. From 2005 – 2010, Nadia served on the collective board of the Sylvia Rivera Law Project. Prior to law school, Nadia worked as a counselor at Manavi, an organization for South Asian women in New Jersey, and a parents’ rights advocate in New Mexico. Nadia received her J.D. from the City University of New York’s School of Law and her B.A. from St. John’s College.
