Rosa Saavedra Vanacore (she/her) is a staff attorney in the Immigrants’ Rights practice area. Before joining TakeRoot Justice, she was a staff attorney at The Bronx Defenders where she represented detained individuals in removal proceedings as part of the New York Immigrant Family Unity Project (NYIFUP). Rosa received her J.D. from Columbia Law School. At Columbia, she participated in the Immigrants’ Rights Clinic and the Mediation Clinic. She also interned at the Center for Constitutional Rights, Brooklyn Defender Services, and EarthRights International in Lima, Peru. Before law school, Rosa served as a Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) Fellow at the National Immigration Project of the National Lawyers Guild. She also worked for United We Dream and served as a paralegal at a boutique immigration law firm in Washington, DC. Rosa holds a Bachelor of Arts from Middlebury College where she designed her major in Comparative Literature. She is fluent in Spanish and proficient in French and Italian.
